Psalm 127:1

Posted by admin on Dec 26, 2009 in Christianity, My Thoughts

Unless the LORD builds the house,
       its builders labor in vain.
Unless the LORD watches over the city,
the watchmen stand guard in vain.

Who is building your marriage house?  I can personally say that most of my married life it was me.  God however is who needs to be building it, or on HIM we build it.  Building it yourself is like making bricks yourself and not firing them.  The weather beats them down and can totally destroy them.  The bricks God builds are very sturdy and even when a hurricane comes through the bricks are still standing.

Calm Or Windy Life

Posted by admin on Nov 22, 2009 in Christianity, My Thoughts

I guess some of the winds have come back to my area today.  Sitting here listening to it reminds me of our lives.  Some of us are in an area of life where the wind is non existant.  Some of us are in the middle of a big wind storm.  Yet for both groups if they left the outside and went inside it is always calm in there.  We can treat life the same way.  Think of God as your house.  If you walk into his presense he can calm the strom and bring peace to your life.  Jesus calmed a strom by speaking to it.  How much more so can he do it for us.  Storms come and go but God will always be there.  Call out to Him and give Him your storm.  He is there just waiting for that word from you so He can help you.

You are not JUNK!!

Posted by admin on Oct 10, 2009 in My Thoughts

I have heard many times in my life that God does not make junk.  This is very true and for some reason this morning I started thinking about that. If God made us in his own image and if you say you are junk then what you are really saying is that God is junk.  No matter how bad I feel or how lonely I feel or so how unimportant I feel to say God is junk just is not in me.  For that I am glad.

A Man’s Weakness

Posted by admin on Sep 8, 2009 in My Thoughts

In reading Proverbs I see many times where God is talking about one of mans greatest weakness – sex.  In many proverbs he mentions the prostitute.  In a way it is nice to know that even great men like David and Solomon had these issues as well as the men today.  On the other hand it is horrible.  How easy it is for a man to fall in to these traps if he is not keeping God in the forefront at all times.  Proverbs 7: 22-23 explains the outcome of giving into the prostitute or other sexual sins.

22 All at once he followed her
like an ox going to the slaughter,
like a deer stepping into a noose
23 till an arrow pierces his liver,
like a bird darting into a snare,
little knowing it will cost him his life.

Proverbs 27

19 As water reflects a face,
so a man’s heart reflects the man.

How so true.  Ultimately what is in a persons heart will shine through.  They may fool you for a time, but they just can not keep the heart from shinning out.

Listening, but not hearing

Posted by admin on Aug 19, 2009 in Christianity, My Thoughts

Proverbs 19

27 Stop listening to instruction, my son,
and you will stray from the words of knowledge.

To me there are two types of not listening.

1) You just plain are not there to listen.
2) You hear the instruction, but you are not paying attention so it falls on deaf ears.

Although the listening to instruction is reading Gods word, the two above still apply.

1) We just plain do not read His word/the Bible.
2) We read His word but our heart was not into it, therefor we didn’t get anything out of it.

Wedding Day Thoughts

Posted by admin on Jun 20, 2009 in My Thoughts

I recently was privileged to attend my nephews wedding.  It was so good to see them put God before everything else.  During the wedding I was brought back to my wedding date and how I was as excited as they were.  The thought of finally being able to be with the one I loved and what our future would bring.  The thought of the adventures ahead we would have together were thrilling.  Now almost 19 years after my wedding day I find my self thinking -
Have I always thought those same thoughts every day we have been married?
Have I always looked forward to adventures we will have in our lives daily?
Have I always been so excited to see the beautiful woman God blessed me with?

Ashamedly I can answer no to all of these.  However I can answer yes to all of these today and I will strive to answer a big YES to these every day we are on this earth.  If you are like me and at times your marriage just seems like any old day, I challenge you to put yourself back to your wedding day and capture those feelings.  Then strive to put them into your life every day.  I also challenge you this.  If you did not invite Jesus to attend your wedding and give him the place of honor, start thinking of when you can renew your vows and include him then.  If you were like me and had not accepted Christ as your Savior when you were married then the thought of asking him to attend was not even in your mind.  Jesus understands and is forgiving and full of grace.  I am sure he will be delighted if he is included in renewing your vows.

Peaceful Rest

Posted by admin on Jun 1, 2009 in Christianity, My Thoughts

Psalm 4

8 I will lie down and sleep in peace,
       for you alone, O LORD,
       make me dwell in safety.

If you are like me you have had many nights where you wrestled with thoughts or emotions and just found hard to go to sleep.  Since I have turned to the Lord for all things and pray to him every night before bed there are rarely a time when sleep does not come easy to me.  My God gives me the peace I need to sleep as well as getting through each day.

One of my favorite verses

Posted by admin on May 22, 2009 in Christianity, My Thoughts

This is from 1st John Chapter 1

9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

This is one of the very first verses I memorized so many years ago.  It is so simple, yet so powerful and true.
